Among the many techniques metalsmiths use to get the desired effects in their pieces, I have found chasing and repoussage and filigree the most satisfying. I enjoy the detail and lightweight features of repoussaged jewelry; starting a piece from a flat sheet of metal and creating whatever shape you desire. I love the the airy, lace like quality of filigree and find the two work well together. I don't think you can ever know enough, so I enjoy taking classes with new techniques to add to my repertoire. I do enjoy a good story, so going forward, I would like to incorporate storytelling elements into the pieces. I am currently working on themes dealing with predators in nature and hope to reveal it soon.
